Edna Durham

Mrs. Edna Durham age 94 of Spring Hill, TN passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Funeral service will be Friday, February 14, 2025 at 12:00pm at Geraldine Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dean Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery. Geraldine Funeral Home directing, www.geraldinefuneralhome.com. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 14th from 10am-12pm. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Spring Hill, TN. Throughout her life she was always an active member of a local Baptist church at the various places she lived including First Baptist Church Joelton, TN where her husband was minister for much of the 1960s. She had a passion for most things related to England and its history and culture. As such she could probably be called an "Anglophile" and could often be seen with a book related to British history in hand. She traveled to England on multiple occasions with friends and/or family. A highlight of these trips was attending the annual Christmas eve service at King's College, an event broadcast all over the world. She also enjoyed domestic travel, in recent years most often to Colorado or Florida to visit her sons and their families. Her musical tastes were broad, ranging from the various forms of sacred music to classical. After attending elementary and high school in her hometown of Geraldine, AL, she attended Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS, graduating with a bachelors degree in 1952. She taught at Fyffe High School, Fyffe AL where she met her husband, Rev. Truman Durham. After taking off a few years to have her two sons, Steve and Tim, she resumed her teaching career at Joelton High School, Joelton, TN, where she taught a variety of subjects from English to home economics to science for 25 years. She then enjoyed a long retirement getting to do the things that interested her and almost always involving family and friends. She is survived by son Timothy Durham; sister Gail Moore; 3 grandchildren Dawn Haas, Jeremy Durham, and Eric Durham; 7 great grandchildren Ashton, Jayden, Jessa, Anna, and Finnley Haas, Lila Durham, and Flora Durham She is preceded in death by husband Rev. Truman Durham and son Stephen Durham
